Changsha

a major industrial hub. It was the city that a young Mao Zedong called home for several years.

Changsha is famous for its street food, which includes some excellent tofu dishes that are relatively cheap. There are also wonderful crayfish-based meals cooked in the summer, as well as the ubiquitous spicy foods common to other parts of China as well.
Changsha is the location of the Hunan Provincial Museum, home to some fantastic archaeological finds from the local area. There include the preserved body of the Marquess of Dai, which is more than two millennia old. According to the archaeologists who found her, she was in a perfect state of preservation when they discovered the tomb – to the point where her skin was still elastic even after two thousand years.
